Mini Pig Training Course 4 has some really helpful and impressive skills for your pig to learn. This course is appropriate for mini pigs of all ages. Any owner can teach these helpful skills and tricks.
Teaching Quiet or Inside Voice This skill is incredibly helpful. We all know how loud a pig can get when they aren’t getting what they want, when they want it. This is a particularly great skill to teach young pigs. Piglets can tend to get loud around 12-16 weeks of age. Teaching this young will benefit your household for years. Older pigs can learn this as well. Well mannered pigs are peaceful pigs.
Stairs Teaching a pig to climb up and down stairs is imperative. It is useful in many ways, but it can also be lifesaving. If you need to get your pig out of the house because of emergency like fire, tornado, or emergency vet care. We have seen owners struggle with older pigs that were never taught stairs, unable to leave the house during a medical emergency or even to get their hooves trimmed. This is a completely avoidable circumstance as stairs are easy to teach with a little bribery and patience.
Teaching Your Pig to Ring a Pottybell Teaching your pig to ring a bell to let you know he or she needs to potty is useful for obvious reasons. This can prevent indoor accidents. It’s also very valuable that your pig knows that he or she is understood. The bell becomes a language that you both speak. Your pig has a need and you can fulfill that which is very rewarding. Easy to teach and so worth the time spent. You will need a large jingle bell that you can hang from a door knob or a potty buzzer found on Amazon. Learning to communicate with your pig and to listen to their communication needs can prevent a lot of unwanted behavior – which usually results from frustrations on both sides.
Teaching Your Pig to Recognize Colors This is a very impressive trick that will make your friends gasp in awe. Surprisingly, this is not a challenging trick to teach. Pigs are very intelligent and pick this up quickly. You will need 2-3 colored items for this one. Children’s blocks, colored answer buzzer (Amazon), colored paper plates, or whatever you have handy.
