Mini Pig Training Course 3
Mini Pig Training Course 3. In this training course, you will learn to teach your mini pig 4 different tricks and skills. This course is a mix of fun and essential life skills with a minimal level of difficulty. These tricks and skills are good for any age or level mini pig. We are so excited to share our tips and tricks for teaching your mini pig all these great tricks.
Gentle Treat Taking While many pigs are naturally gentle when taking treats, some are not. Meanwhile, some pigs become more excited as the treats are given out. Some pigs may just need a reminder on how to be gentle when accepting treats. We definitely do not want grabby teeth coming after treats and rewards. It makes training no fun and it can make meeting strangers and children a high risk. Training your pig to take a treat gently is essential. This is a skill that is not taught only once, but may need to be reinforced over time. Pigs can be pushy little friends, and will take advantage of any leniency they find. Once the intial training is understood, they may just need small reminders at times to remember their training in manners.
Keys or Get Your Keys This is a cute trick that involves a children’s set of keys. To teach this trick, you will need to stop at a dollar store, Walmart or use Amazon to find a set of toddler keys with buttons that are easily reactive when touched. After you complete this course, you can ask your pig to find his keys and you will get that hilarious response of a beep of the alarm or the cars auto start and what could be cuter than that.
Teaching Your Mini Pig Shapes Teaching shapes is an impressive trick. Your friends will be in shock when you say square and then your pig picks out a square from a group of shapes. This is an easy trick to teach with consistency and practice. To teach this trick you will need shapes. Children’s blocks will work or cardboard. Also, cardstock cut outs. You could use boxes for square and rectangle and a frisbee for a circle. Get creative!
Teaching Back Teaching back is one of those top 5 essential life skills. Therefore, we love for owners to be able to ask their pig to move and have that pig listen and move. This is a great way to practice Respect of Space or Move the Pig. This skill is a good reminder to your pig, who is the boss. Back is a great skill to teach and it can aid in keeping your pig safe. If you see your pig approaching something he or she shouldn’t ingest, you can say “back” and your pig will step back. If your pig is getting too close to someone who is not comfortable around pigs, you can say back and your pig will move back. The applications are really endless for this special skill.
